About Us
Sound Home Sanctuary is a New York microsantuary founded on the idea that all animals deserve a life of soundness - to be healthy, peaceful, and secure. We rescue, foster, place, and adopt small animals in need of homes and rehabilitative services, in partnership with other animal rescue organizations. The organization was conceived in 2020 by founders Jacquelyn Lewis and Ed Janoff in Port Washington, NY on the shores of Long Island Sound (get it?). Over several years leading up to the launch, the two founders provided individualized care services for more than 50 animals!
We are currently partnering with local animal hospitals to foster and place stray kittens, cats, and other small stray mammals found by good samaritans. We are also able to refer individuals caring for animals in need of rescue to other organizations that can offer additional help. We have plans to expand into a standalone rescue with intake capacity in the future.
